What are persons, roles and accounts in the CAU identity management (CIM)?

A person in CIM represents a real person. A person in CIM must not occur more than once. Every person has a CIM username that provides access to services.

A person can be allocated different roles. For instance, a person can be a CAU employee and/or a student. CIM stores specific information for each role: study information for students or institution affiliation for employees. Each role can have role-specific accounts which are used for role-specific services.

Accounts represent access to services that can be used with username and password. An account (username) belongs to a person (CIM username) or to a role.
